History

March, 1944 Began production of welding rods as Tobata Factory of Tatsumi Bussan Co., Ltd. (with the head office located in Seoul and the founder president being Megumi Nagaoka) in Kanahara-cho, Tobata-Shi (Current Shinike-cho, Tobata-ku, Kitakyushu-shi).
January, 1951 Established and registered as Nagaoka Steel Works, Ltd.
May, 1953 Established Osaka factory.
January, 1955 Established Hikari factory to start production of iron wires, wire nails and gas welding rods.
February, 1962 Became JIS certified factory for iron wires, wire nails and hard steel wires.
January, 1969 Began processing of materials for high tension bolts.
September, 1972 Began production of stainless steel wires.
October, 1976 Split Tobata gas station and Kanda gas station establishing a subsidiary of gNagaoka Oil Co., Ltd.h. (Current Nagaoka Trading Co., Ltd.)
June, 1979 Increased production facilities for stainless steel wires.
July, 1983 Moved the head office function to Hikari factory.
June, 1984 Developed production method for aluminium special shaped wire for Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), beginning its production and sales.
January, 1987 Began processing of long length fine diameter steel tube.
July, 1989 Closed Osaka factory.
August, 1989 Established Kudamatsu factory, increasing the production of stainless steel wires.
January, 1991 Installed rolling machine to begin production of stainless steel special shaped wire.
March, 1991 Began production of vertebras for wiper blades.
June, 1993 Increased rolling machine, increasing production of special shaped wire.
May, 1994 Stopped production of welding rods.
December, 1994 Installed fully automatic large annealing furnace (STC furnace). Increased annealing work for Cr stainless steel wire rods.
August, 1996 Expanded production facilities for Cr stainless steel wires.
April, 1998 Established production technology for YUS550, beginning its sales.
May, 1998 Installed a rolling machine (with driving turks), increasing production of special shaped wires.
January, 2000 Awarded Japan Stainless Steel Association prize for YUS550.
February, 2001 Increased a STC furnace.
January, 2003 Newly installed production facilities for titanium wires.
March, 2004 Stopped acid cleaning/coating treatment of steel materials, expanding the sales of titanium wires.
October, 2005 Established production technology for NSSC160R, beginning its sales.
March, 2007 Relocated the head office to Hikari city from Kitakyushu city.
August, 2007 Began operation of the second Hikari Factory.
July, 2008 Installed a new type of continuous wiredrawing machine.
July, 2009 Established drawing technology for titanium alloy wires.
November, 2010 Began operation of Kitakyusyu Factory.
March, 2011 Increased production facilities for titanium wires.
